The sulfuric acid electrolyte is absorbed and immobilized by the separators and plates. They are designed using gas recombination technology, which controls the evolution of hydrogen and oxygen during charging, thereby eliminating the need for regular water replenishment. The battery is completely sealed and leak-proof—making it maintenance-free—and allows for operation in any position. Should accidental overcharging occur and hydrogen and oxygen be generated, a system of special one-way valves allows the gases to escape, preventing excessive internal pressure.
