A UPS is an advanced power electronics system that provides backup power to critical load devices when the main power source fails, fluctuates, or drops to unacceptable levels.

Online Operation (Normal Mode)

Grid power enters the Rectifier, converting AC to DC. This cleans the power. The Inverter then converts it back to pure AC for the load, while simultaneously charging the batteries.

Types of UPS Architectures

1. Online UPS (Double Conversion)

The highest level of protection. Power is continuously converted (AC-DC-AC). Zero transfer time. Ideal for Data Centers, Medical, and Heavy Industry.

2. Line-Interactive UPS

Includes an Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR). Corrects minor voltage fluctuations without using the battery. Transfer time is 2-6 ms. Ideal for SMBs and IT racks.

What is the difference between kVA and kW?

kVA (Apparent Power): The total amount of power the UPS can handle. kW (Active Power): The actual power available to your devices. The ratio between them is the Power Factor (PF). Innovasis industrial UPS systems have a PF of 1.0, meaning 100 kVA = 100 kW.

What is THDi and why is it important?

Total Harmonic Distortion of current (THDi) measures how much a UPS pollutes the electrical grid. A high THDi overheats cables. Innovasis rectifiers keep THDi below 3%.

What is a Galvanic Isolation Transformer?

It physically separates the input and output electrical circuits. This protects sensitive medical devices or industrial machines from extreme electrical noise.
